September 2011: The idea of sustainable co-creation!
in co-operation with KINGSKIN CHESSBAG has developed a trendy chessbag. The chessbag is fully hand-produced in Uganda. This portable chessbag is made out of bark cloth, but is also available in other materials. You play whenever, wherever you want. For more information check out the website of CHESSBAG.

Bark cloth wall coverings
Bark cloth can also be used in interior, project and stand design. The picture below shows a restaurant in Gorinchem, thas has chosen for bark cloth wall coverings. Kingskin sells the raw material per piece. One piece of bark cloth is approximately 5 to 9 square meter. For more information mail to info@kingskin.nl.

11-15 February 2011 - Ambiente in Frankfurt
From 11 to15 February 2011 our Ugandan producer, Sara Katebalirwe, will be showing her own line of bark cloth products at the Ambiente in Frankfurt am Main. With over 4,300 exhibitors the Ambiente is one of the largest and most important international trade fairs for consumer goods in the world for dining, living and giving.

November 2010 - Meeting with Dr. Jane Goodall
On 18 November 2010 Dr. Jane Goodall has been introduced to Kingskin. Jane Goodall was in The Netherlands for a few days as part of her "Gombe 50 Tour" and gave a lecture in the Apenheul in Apeldoorn about her work, passion and motives. Kingskin was also present there, because The Jane Goodall Foundation Netherlands and Kingskin have plans to cooperate in the near future on product sales and the use of the Mutuba tree for protection of the habitats of the chimpanzees in Uganda.
October 2010 - Bark cloth and Biomimicry
Kingskin is subject to an exhibition on Biomimicry in the ICSE in Eindhoven. Start of the exhibition is the Dutch Design Week (23 through 30 October 2010). You can visit the exhibition until 1 April 2011. On 29 October 2010 Kingskin has held a presentation in the ICSE in Eindhoven on Bark cloth and Biomimicry.
September 2010 - ETFAM Trade Fair
Kingskin was represented again this year at the ETFAM Trade Fair in the Beursgebouw in Eindhoven, where producers of fair trade goods from developing countries meet potential buyers.

September 2009 - SBIR Biodiversity
On September 24, 2009 Art Nature Design has received an assignment from the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, coupled with a cash prize of € 50,000 for a feasibility study into the industrialization of the process of bark cloth making.
Art Nature Design has participated as one of the 116 entrepreneurs in the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program for biodiversity. In this program entrepreneurs could submit a proposal for an innovative product or service that could offer a solution to a social problem of biodiversity.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality has earmarked € 3,4 million for the program. An independent committee has selectes 21 winners from the 116 entrepreneurs. In 2010 these 21 entrepreneurs can compete again to win funding for the research and development process up to € 450,000 per entrepreneur.
The Small Business Innovation and Research program has 3 phases, namelijk: (1) feasibility (2) research and development (3) marketing. Phase (1) and (2) are supported by the government. For phase (3) the entrepreneur is responsible himself.
Art Nature design will carry out the research in cooperation with Royal Bark Cloth Designs, Jan Vossen Consult and Georges Beaujean Design Studio (GBDS).
